The Seasons
I like the Summer, Winter, Spring and Fall
I like baseball, football, track and basketball
I like the sun, snow, the sleet and rain
I like the thrill of victory and the agony of the lost game
The characters of the game, the ones who gain fame
The falling of the leaves, and the smell of the plains
The green pollen stains as Spring saunters in
The pledge of “going to Disney World”, after the Super Bowl win
I like the rising sun; in track, the sound of the gun
And the way the sprinters warm up, getting hyped for the run
The whistle blow from the official and the technical fouls
And the cheering of the crowd, when they start to go wild
I long for cold weather in the summer, yearn for fall in the spring
Yearn for the National Anthem that a musical artist sings
I yearn for hot weather in the winter because it’s so much fun
To see Griffey, Sosa, or Bonds smash a long home run
Iverson, Kobe Bryant and the new young superstars
I long to see them showcase their talents, wherever they are
The spiking of the football, I definitely like
And the youngsters emulating athletes, trying to “Be Like Mike”
In other words, sports imitates the weather and there is no reason
For anyone not to have fun throughout the four seasons
